Dermatology

Abby is a certified family nurse practitioner and dermatology trained nurse practitioner. She has worked in the healthcare field for many years and has a wide range of experience including family practice, urgent care, gerontology, and hospice. She has also completed a three-month dermatology fellowship with RC Dermatology’s Charles Love, MD.

Abby is diligent about learning and keeping up with the latest guidelines and recommendations to better serve her patients and help them achieve their healthcare goals and needs. When she isn’t seeing patients, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, biking, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Diabetes Education

Mallory Lindner is a registered nurse and diabetes educator, providing comprehensive diabetes education and support at Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa. The diabetes education programs are designed to help individuals with, or at risk for, diabetes gain the knowledge and skills needed to manage their condition effectively. Mallory collaborates with patients, their families, and healthcare providers to create tailored strategies that address each individual’s unique needs and goals. Through her work at Pocahontas Community Hospital, Mallory plays a vital role in empowering patients to take control of their health, reduce the risk of complications, and improve their overall quality of life.

General Surgery 

Originally from Pocahontas, Iowa, Dr. Patrick Slattery is a highly experienced, board-certified general surgeon who has been providing expert surgical care for more than 25 years. His surgical interests include minimally invasive surgery from both laparoscopic and robotic approaches. 

Dr. Slattery earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa in 1991 and went on to complete his general surgery residency at Creighton University in Omaha, where he also served as a research fellow in the Cardiac Division from 1993 to 1994.

Dr. Slattery has been certified by the American Board of Surgery since 1998 and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He brings a depth of surgical knowledge and a commitment to patient care to his work with Northwest Iowa Surgeons, serving the communities of northwest Iowa with skill and compassion.

Jaren H. Ricker, MD

Dr. Jaren Ricker is a board-certified general surgeon with interests in robotic colectomy, pH probe testing, and thyroid surgery. He earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in 2009 and completed his general surgery residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines in 2014.

Since becoming board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in 2014, Dr. Ricker has been committed to providing high-quality surgical services to communities across northwest Iowa through his work with Northwest Iowa Surgeons.

Dr. Jason Keonin is a board-certified general surgeon dedicated to providing skilled, patient-centered surgical care. He earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa in 2005 and completed his general surgery residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines in 2010.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery since 2011, Dr. Keonin is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His surgical interests include robotic surgery, hernia repair, anti-reflux procedures, and endoscopy. Through his role with Northwest Iowa Surgeons, he is committed to delivering safe, effective surgical solutions to patients in the northwest Iowa region.

Dr. Jeffre Helmink is a board-certified general surgeon with over two decades of experience delivering high-quality surgical care. He earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1995, followed by an internship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He then completed his surgical residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Dr. Helmink has been certified by the American Board of Surgery since 2002 and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is committed to providing compassionate, expert surgical care to patients in northwest Iowa through his work with Northwest Iowa Surgeons. He has a special focus on endoscopy and minimally invasive techniques for abdominal procedures.

Doctor of Occupational Therapy

Hannah Conlin is an Occupational Therapist whose passion lies in helping individuals return to doing what they need to and improve their overall quality of life. Hannah earned her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Drake University after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Buena Vista University. 

Following graduation, Hannah worked as a traveling occupational therapist in a variety of settings. She is passionate about working with all age groups and diagnoses and likes the variety that the rural setting offers. Hannah grew up near Albert City and is excited to serve individuals in Pocahontas County and the surrounding communities. 

In her free time, Hannah enjoys helping on her family’s farm, spending time with her family and dogs, and traveling.

Ashley Plantz, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Ashley Plantz is a Physical Therapist and the PCH Rehab Director, with over a decade of clinical experience and a commitment to helping people achieve their goals. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University after completing a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from St. Ambrose University. She holds advanced certifications in Graston Technique,  LSVT BIG for Parkinson’s Disease, and Functional Dry Needling (FDN). 

Ashley enjoys working with all patient populations, but brings expertise in pediatrics, Parkinson’s Disease, and dry needling. She places a strong emphasis on patient education, empowering individuals to better understand their conditions and actively participate in their recovery. Her approach focuses on tailoring treatment to the unique needs of each patient, promoting long-term wellness and recovery.

Outside of the clinic, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.

Physical Therapist 

Lizabeth (Libby) Kraft is a Physical Therapist with over a decade of experience and enjoys helping people get back to doing what they love. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University after completing a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology from Iowa State University. 

Libby is a Certified in Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) and has a strong interest in inpatient care, vestibular rehab, and orthopedics. Libby takes pride in developing personalized care plans that reflect each patient’s unique goals and challenges. She blends clinical expertise with a strong understanding of human movement and behavior to deliver thoughtful, effective treatment.

When she’s not in the clinic, Libby cherishes time with her husband and their four children.
