Enhancing Patient Care Through Nutrition & Hospitality

At Pocahontas Community Hospital, our Nutritional Services Department is dedicated to enhancing patient care through personalized nutrition and exceptional hospitality. Led by Director Mary Crosgrove, our team ensures that both dietary and housekeeping services meet the highest standards of comfort and cleanliness.

Personalized Patient Nutrition

Each patient receives meal options tailored to their specific dietary needs as prescribed by their healthcare provider. A hospitality employee from our Nutritional Services Department visits patients daily to review menu selections, ensuring a variety of choices. If a desired item isn’t on the menu, patients are encouraged to make requests—we strive to accommodate all preferences.

Expert Dietary Guidance

Our registered dietitian, Shawn Erickson-Welter, RDLD, offers nutritional recommendations for patients with nutritional risks. She also provides outpatient nutrition education for managing diet-related illnesses and supporting weight loss goals. To schedule an appointment or consult with Shawn, please call (712) 335-5222.

Housekeeping Excellence

Our housekeeping staff plays a crucial role in infection control, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment throughout the hospital. Their commitment to cleanliness is evident, contributing to our top-rated Press Ganey scores.
