Laboratory

Pocahontas Community Hospital Laboratory services include routine clinical testing dedicated to providing high-quality results in a timely manner. We strive to meet our less than 60 minute turn around standard on all samples we test. Common samples to test are blood, urine, tissue, and other body fluids. Our experienced staff consists of 5 medical technologists and phlebotomists who take pride in poking you right the first time.

We are inspected biannually by a CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) state inspector, and perform approximately 34,500 bundled tests per year. We are DATIA certified collectors and can also assist you with all of your Employer Drug Screening needs. We happily accept orders from any outside provider, just be sure you bring the order your doctor gave to you or have it faxed to us.

Once a year, in conjunction with the American Heart Association Go Red Event, in February we offer lipid wellness testing for $25.00. If you need to see us for fasting lab work, please remember the laboratory defines fasting as no food or drink for 12 hours before having your blood drawn. Patients may still take their medication with small amounts of water unless your physician has told you otherwise. Please contact us with any other questions you may have.

For the convenience of Laurens residents, the Lab staff draws at the Laurens clinic on Thursdays mornings and brings your blood back to the hospital to be tested. You must call UnityPoint Laurens (712-841-4516) to schedule these appointments with us.
